Your Introduction to the G00d Life.

At 22 years old, I feel that most young women my age are caught up in the wrong things (key word is MOST, not ALL), money, appearance, taking half naked Instagram photos (yeah, I said it).  I decided a long time ago that I wasn’t going to be one of them.

My mission in life is to be successful, but not in the same way others might see it.  Success doesn’t mean money to me.  Success means being the best at whatever field I’m in (regardless of what it is), being a great mother and wife (one day), being a great baker/pastry chef (did I mention I bake?) and helping others in need along the way.

I’m not perfect, and I acknowledge this everyday. I didn’t always care about this kind of stuff, and it has taken a lot of growth and life changing experiences for me to get here. But I am continuously working on learning to be good…inherently good…for the sake of myself and the people around me.

So with that being said, this blog has many purposes.  What might that be?

-To meet other young people in the world who are making a change in their community.  Living in Vegas I have to admit that I feel like I’m the only person my age in this city who actually cares about this kind of stuff. If I could even meet other young people in VEGAS who are involved in outreach programs…that would be amazing.

-To share what I’m doing to make a change.  Hopefully I can inspire others to do the same.

-To share good things/experiences I encounter

-To vent about things I see/encounter that I feel are BAD (I know, this is suppose to be the G00D life right?).  Why do this? Because I get sick of it, and hope someone who engages in these activities will read this and CHANGE it.

-Post a picture of a cupcake or two (I did mention I bake, right?)

-Lastly, to give advice to anyone who needs it.  I pride myself on being very honest and will always give the most genuine and sincere advice.  Especially to my teenagers.  This girl right here will NOT steer you the wrong way.

My personal contribution to the Adopt-a-Family program. It isn’t a lot…but it’s what I could do right now :\ I thought it was cute that two of the boys asked for CD players.  I haven’t had one in years, especially now with the invention of the iPod. Such a modest request that was (in my opinion)…kind of humbling. -BJ

Adopt-a-Family This is something I’ve always wanted to do.  I am our “Employee Engagement Team” Lead at my job, so I’ve been working really at hard trying to find more and more opportunities for us to get involved as a store and help those in need. We ended up getting a family of 5 boys, all who (in my opinion) really didn’t ask for much (compared to the kids in MY family -____-).  I really hope my co-workers get excited about this. It took a while for them to catch on to the food drive, an with this we only have until next Friday to get all of the gifts together. At the end of the day, this is about the kids…I really hope they can all see that. -BJ

My Attempt at a Food Drive I started a food drive at my job about 2 weeks ago that ends this Friday.  The bottom picture was my personal contribution at the time (since then I’ve added a little more) and the top picture was how I have it set up at work. Decided to make it a competition between departments in hopes to get people more excited about it. For a while I was starting to feel like no one at work cared :-( But as of today we actually have a good amount of participation.  After Friday I will post some photos of the overall results of the food drive. -BJ
